How to measure before you order

A brace one size out will slip, rub or come off entirely. Use a soft tape measure, keep it snug but not tight, and measure the limb you are bracing rather than the healthy one — swelling changes the number.

If a measurement falls between two sizes, call us before ordering — the right choice depends on whether the joint is swollen and whether the brace goes over or under clothing.

Measure the affected limb

Not the healthy side. Swelling after surgery or injury can change a circumference by an inch or more, and a brace sized off the good leg will be too tight.

Time of day matters

Limbs swell through the day. If you measure in the evening and the brace feels loose in the morning, that is normal — the straps take up the difference.

Wear what you'll wear

If the brace goes over clothing or under a compression sleeve, measure with that layer on. Rigid back braces in particular fit differently over a shirt.

Snug, not tight

The tape should sit flat against the skin without compressing it. Pulling the tape tight gives you a smaller size and a brace that cuts in.

Check the straps, not the size label

A correctly fitted brace has strap adjustment left at both ends of its range. If a strap is at its limit on day one, the size is wrong.

Skin checks in the first week

Remove the brace daily and look for red marks that don't fade within 20 minutes. That is the signal to call us for an adjustment, not to push through it.

Send us a photo and your measurements

If you'd rather not guess, message us the tape measurements and a photo of the joint. A fitter reviews it and confirms the size and model before we ship anything — the same check we would do in person.
